I am educated and beleive from my childhood that talaq is effected when someone says 3times in one session, what i did i divorce twice to threat her 14 years before and in our last quarrel one weak before I divorce her one time just to keep in my mind that i dont said 3 times in one session, guide me please.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Regarding the issue of uttering three divorces in one session (with one consecutive wording) or in one gathering without the husband taking back his wife, and the difference of opinion among the scholars about the matter, please refer to Fatwas 82330 and 83467.
As to the divorce you mentioned that you uttered twice, then if they were uttered in two different sessions, then they are considered as two divorces, and the last divorce would be the third divorce. However, if you had uttered them in one wording or in one gathering and you did not take back your wife between the two divorces, then the difference of opinion to which we have already pointed applies to them. Hence, we advise you to consult an Islamic court in your country, as the matter needs elaboration from you as to the manner of your initiating the divorces.
Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the following matters:
1- Not knowing the rulings of divorce does not prevent divorce from taking place as we clarified in Fatwa 92352.
2- You should avoid getting angry and resorting to solving disputes by hastening to utter "divorce". Hence, both spouses should be wise and endeavor to do whatever leads to the stability of the family.
Allaah Knows best.
