Question

What if husband gives 3 talaqs in one sitting in anger during argument and immediately denied saying I didn't utter these words it was not my intentions.. further said that if ever I wanted to divorce you I will give you with my intention and consciousness What women should do in such situation? Is talaq valid and there is no chance of reconciliation? (Both husband and wife wants to reconcile)This happend in one country and now both husband wife living together in another country

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

In principle, what is considered in divorce is the statement of the husband; so, if the wife claims that a divorce took place and the husband denies it, his statement will be accepted.

Furthermore, scholars have differed on the ruling of divorce pronounced in extreme anger, as well as on the ruling of issuing three divorces consecutively in one sitting without any reconciliation or having a marriage contract between them. Hence, as long as there is a scholarly disagreement regarding this matter, the correct approach is to present the issue in person to a knowledgeable scholar at Islamic centres in the questioner’s country, or to other trustworthy and qualified scholars.

Allah knows best.
