She found discharge after coming back from Tawaaf Fatwa No: 29212
- Fatwa Date:4-4-2013
I performed Hajj this year. Since the beginning of my menstrual period corresponded with the beginning of the Hajj rituals, I took tablets to prevent menstruation. On the night of the tenth of Thul-Hijjah, I found some brownish discharge and I continued to take the tablets. On the morning of the eleventh of Thul-Hijjah, I went out to perform Tawaaf Al-Ifaadhah and I was certain that there was no discharge at all. When I came back, however, I found a brownish discharge that was slightly reddish. I consulted the physician and she told me that it could be the beginning of the menstrual period. She told me to take more tablets in order to stop the discharge and I did so. Then my menstruation started after I had returned to Riyadh. Was Tawaaf Al-Ifaadhah valid?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Since you performed Tawaaf (circumambulating the Ka‘bah) while you were certain that there was no discharge, it is valid Inshaa’ Allaah (Allaah Willing). Finding this discharge after coming back does not invalidate Tawaaf, because you are not required under Sharee‘ah to check for any discharge during Tawaaf, as this constitutes hardship. This is the ruling when discharge is considered menstruation; if it is not, then Tawaaf is valid with greater reason.
Allaah Knows best.
