Reciting Dhikr in a diaper room with impurities

Question

As-salaamu 3laikum. I recently had a baby boy wa alhamdulilah. I change his nappy and dirty clothes and bath him in my bedroom because I don't have another place to do it (our toilet is small and unsuitable). I cannot keep all of the changing area and equipment completely free of impurities as I have to change his nappy and clothes frequently and can't wash everything I use. Can I still make dhikr and du3a in this room in spite of the presence of impurities? Also can you give me any advice on a way to bath a newborn baby that would remove impurity from him? Jazaakum Allahu khairan

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is reason to prohibit reciting Dhikr or the Quran or performing prayer in that room even if it contains impurities, provided that the very spot where you perform prayer is free of impurity.

As for removing impurity from the newborn’s body, you can use wet wipes and then pour water over the newborn's body gently until the impurity is removed or simply pour water over the impurity (on his body) until it is removed.

Allaah Knows best.
