A disabled person who cannot perform Wudhoo’ by himself Fatwa No: 34332
- Fatwa Date:7-4-2013
There are three disabled brothers who can only move their limbs with extreme difficulty. They cannot perform Wudhoo’ unless there is someone to help them. Since they do not want to burden others, are they permitted to perform Tayammum (dry ablution)? Thank you.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger. Scholars stated that a person who is unable to use water because he has an amputated limb or is paralyzed is required to seek help from someone else in order to help him perform Wudhoo’ (ablution) or Tayammum (dry ablution) if using water is harmful to him. If he cannot find someone to help him without a charge, he has to hire someone if he is able to pay him the charge.
