He Denied a Story in the Christian Version of Prophet Adam and Eve Fatwa No: 435607
- Fatwa Date:23-1-2021
Asalamualaikum In school, there was a lesson in the Christian version of Prophet Adam and Haywards. Due to my ignorance, I didn't know that Eve was actually Haywards, and I refused to believe that story. But later I watched the real islamic version it turned out that Eve was Hawwa. Am I guilty of blasphemy?
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
There is no doubt that your denial of that story by ignorance and error is not an act of disbelief, for the sin of error is waived off from this Ummah.
Allah Says (what means): {And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred but [only for] what your hearts intended. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.} [Quran 33:5]
Ibn Taymiyyah said: “No one can declare any Muslim as a disbeliever, even if he has committed a sin and a grave error until the evidence is established against him and the truth is made clear to him. A person whose Islam has been proven with certainty cannot be judged as a disbeliever based only upon doubts. Rather, he is not to be judged as a disbeliever except after the establishment of evidence and the removal of any misconceptions.” [End of quote – from Majmoo’ Al-Fataawa]
