Ruqyah according to the Sharee'ah is beneficial, Allaah willing Fatwa No: 4551
- Fatwa Date:23-9-2010
My mother is sick and we have tried every possible means to treat her but there has been only a slight improvement in her health. What is your advice in this regard?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
We ask Allaah The Almighty to cure us and you from every apparent and hidden disease. He is indeed Competent to respond to our supplication.
You must know that Allaah The Almighty has made a cure for every disease that is known to some people and unknown to others. On the authority of Abu Hurayrah the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, mentioned that Allaah The Almighty does not send down a disease without sending its remedy.
We advise you to renew your repentance to Allaah The Almighty and frequently seek His forgiveness. If you have wronged anyone, give him his right or ask him to forgive you. You should draw near to Allaah The Almighty and implore Him, believing that He will answer and taking refuge in His Power and Strength, disavowing the power and strength of any other entity. Allaah The Almighty promises those who supplicate Him that He will respond to their supplication, especially those who are in dire need. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means):
* {And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me -- indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.}[Quran 2:186]
* {And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you."}[Quran 40:60]
The best resort for you in this situation is Ruqyah according to the Sharee‘ah from the Quran and Sunnah (tradition). Adhere to it, be patient, and never abandon it. You will find it beneficial, Allaah willing.
You should also seek the usual therapy at the hands of a professional physician. Do not be weary or give up hope, and never despair of the relief and cure that Allaah The Almighty will bring about sooner or later. You should know that relief comes at the height of distress and that with difficulty comes relief.
We ask Allaah The Almighty to render the suffering of your mother as atonement for her sins and elevation to the rank which Allaah The Almighty has prepared for her.
And Allaah Knows best.
