Refuting the allegations of Al-Ahbaash Fatwa No: 8294
- Fatwa Date:15-1-2008
My brother's wife belongs to the sect of the Ahbaash. How can I convince her to leave the sect? She has accused me of being a follower of the Takfiri Salafi school.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
The Ahbaash is a deviant sect that we should be vigilant about and warn people against. For further information about their beliefs, see Fatwa No. 514.
With regard to your brother's wife's accusation that the followers of the Salafi school are Takfiris, it is a groundless claim and a false accusation because judging a Muslim to be a disbeliever without decisive evidence is a serious affair and a major sin in which only heretical innovators would fall.
It is even worse when revered senior scholars from the Ummah (Muslim nation), like Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Al-Qayyim are judged to be disbelievers. Indeed this is the methodology that this sect uses.
We ask Allaah the Almighty to save us from committing this sin and seek refuge in Him against the evil of this sect.
Allaah Knows best.
