Leaves Prayer Due to Premature Ejaculation Fatwa No: 83298
- Fatwa Date:18-9-2001
I am a patient of premature ejaculation. Due to this problem I often leave my prayer; and moreover I can not tell my mom and dad about this problem. Please tell me what should I do to cure myself.
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
It is unlawful for the Muslim to give up any of the prescribed Prayers or to delay performing them at their fixed times. Allah Says (what means):
• {Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.} [Quran 4:103]
• {But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil.} [ Quran 19:59]
In fact, delaying performing a prayer from its fixed time without a valid excuse is a major sin.
There are three kinds of secretions and liquids (not the urine) that come out from the male organ.
First, Wady is a liquid secreted by the male organ just after the urine. This liquid annuls ablution. But you are not asked to perform Ghusl for it.
Second, Madhi is a sticky substance that is secreted when the person is sexually excited. It usually comes discontinuously.
This liquid annuls ablution and the person should clean it from the penis.
Third, Mani is a viscid substance that flows out of the male organ as a result of an orgasm. It is usually followed by a relaxation of the body. Its smell is like that of dough.
Any person who ejaculates this liquid has to perform Ghusl before praying. There is no difference between the person who ejaculates while sleeping, or while having sex, or for of any other cause. In all circumstances, the person has to perform Ghusl whenever Mani comes out.
Having premature ejaculation is not a valid excuse to delay Prayers. You should perform Ghusl and pray no matter how disturbed you will be because of your parents' presence, as the prayer is the most important pillar of Islam after the Shahaadah (The Two Testimonies of Faith). Shyness that makes one neglect the obligations is bad. You may also perform Ghusl in the mosque if possible.
As for how to cure this, we advise you to read the supplications that the Muslim should read before sleeping, to perform ablution before sleeping, avoid eating heavy evening meals, and finally refrain from looking at women in TV and newspapers, …… etc.
We ask Allah to help you overcome this problem in the way that pleases Him.

Allah knows best.
