How much area around the penis should be shaved according to Islam? Is it necessary to remove the hair around the anal region?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

There is agreement among Muslim scholars that shaving the pubes is recommended for the Prophetic Hadeeth: “Ten are among the Fitrah acts, (….and he mentioned) …shaving the pubic hair.” [Muslim]

According to the majority of Muslim scholars, it is recommended to shave the area around the penis of the male and the vulva of the female.

Also, it is said that it is shaving the hair around the anus.

Imam An-Nawawi said: “It is recommended to shave the hair from the area around the penis, vulva and anus.”

We are of the view that this is the most correct opinion.
