Eating rice cooked along with forbidden meat Fatwa No: 90868
- Fatwa Date:15-12-2005
It is a well established truth from both Sunnah and Hadeeth that any meat on which a name other than that of Allaah has been invoked while slaughtering, then it is Haraam for us to consume it. My question is: Is it Halaal to eat rice which is cooked along with this kind of Haraam meat? For e.g.: When eating Biryani, can we just have the rice and not eat the meat. Is that permissible?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
What is dedicated to other than Allaah upon slaughtering is forbidden by the text of the Quran. Allaah Says (which means): {Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allaah.}[Quran 5:3]. And it is forbidden to eat the food that is cooked along with this forbidden meat because some of its pieces and its soup will infiltrate into the food.
Allaah Knows best.
