Answering child's question: who created Allaah? Fatwa No: 91017
- Fatwa Date:4-1-2006
Who creates Allaah? This question from 6 years old (my daughter). I want the right answer for this little girl. By the way we live in USA.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
The correct answer for such a question "Who created Allaah?", is to give him the answer of the Prophet who said: "The devil would come to one of you and whisper to him: "Who created such and such?", "Who created such and such?", until he whispers to him: "Who created your Lord?" If things reach this level, he should seek refuge in Allaah from the devil, and stop asking [thinking about] such questions." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] However, if the questioner is a child who is unable to grasp the meaning of this narration, then one should direct him/her to think on the greatness of Allaah in creating this universe and whatever it contains, and draw his/her attention to the greatness of this creation in itself, and the blessings that Allaah bestowed on him/her, like the hearing, the sight, and the speech and the like.
Finally, it should be noted that a corrupt environment dangerously affects the way children think, their morals and creed. So, the parents should find a good and pious environment for their children, which will positively affect their nurturing and upbringing.
