Fatwa No: 92375

Question

(1) If a garment that I am wearing gets lightly wet due to sweat, but otherwise is clean, then can I wear such garment when I do my Salat or it needs to be washed & then wear it to say my Salat ? (2) Is it true that one who recites "Subhanallahi Wa Behamdehe, Subhanallahil azim", Allah subhanotala while judging that person on Judgement Day will be linient ?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

It is not an obligation to wash clothes when they are wet with sweat because sweat is ritually pure as clarified in Fatwa 92250.

As regards whether or not a person who says "Subhaanallaah Wa Bihamdihi…" is judged leniently, then we are not aware of any Prophetic narration in this subject. However, Allaah Says (what means): {Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, He surely will receive an easy reckoning.} [Quran 84:7-8]. Therefore, the person who will receive an easy reckoning on the Day of Judgement is the one who receives his Record with his right hand, and it is hoped that whoever mentions Allaah earnestly and was persistent in performing acts of obedience to Him -among which is saying the mention of Allaah- that he will be among those.

We ask Allaah, the Most Merciful, with his Beautiful Names and Attributes to make us among the people of the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), and forgive us on the Day of reckoning.

Allaah Knows best.
