Question

Assalam o Alikum, I am doing a job in Saudi Arabia since 2008. I am earning 5000 Saudi Riyal Per month. In 2010 I went to Pakistan and got married. Currently I am living in Saudi Arabia without my wife in a sad & depressed condition and also my wife she is very depressed and feels loneliness. I go to my home country after every eight to ten months. Before I was not able to bring my wife with me due to some domestic financial requirements and now also up to next one year I can not bring. If I will bring my wife with me in Saudi Arabia I will pay all expenditures because company will not pay family expense, then I can not save money. Therefore I want to do business in Pakistan so that I can live with my family but my parents wants that I should continue my job and live there and take my wife in Saudi Arabia. So what should I do? I am really confused and depressed, Please help me and give a wise advice and solution.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds.  I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

It is permissible for you to return to your country and to your family and work in business and it is not an obligation upon you to obey your parents in continuing to work outside your country and bringing your wife along with you or leaving her, since this harms your religion and your livelihood.

Obedience to parents is an obligation only in what benefits them and does not cause harm to the offspring.

Allaah Knows best.
