Jinn possession and going to those who treat with the Quran
Fatwa No: 23509

Question

1- What is the ruling on going to people who treat with the Quran?
2- Can anyone affect Jinn or expel them?
3- Do Jinn possess humans?
4- Was there a case of Jinn possession at the time of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Some practitioners who treat people with Jinn possession comply with Sharee’ah (Islamic law) regulations while performing Ruqyah (healing with the Quran), while others do not. Some of them are even sorcerers and soothsayers and the rulings on visiting them differ according to each case.

The person performing Ruqyah according to the Sharee’ah can expel Jinn from the body of a possessed person with the permission of Allaah the Exalted, through recitation of the Quran, supplications and performing Thikr.

Jinn possession is proven by the Quran, the Sunnah (Prophetic tradition) and by examples and cases from real life.

Such cases occurred at the time of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam.

For details on all these issues, please see the following Fataawa 10719, 2287612589 and 4738.

Allaah Knows best.
