Allah does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to purify you Fatwa No: 351106
- Fatwa Date:21-4-2017
Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu. I have a question regarding impurity. I used to mop the floor of my house using a wet mop, and I used to mop gecko filth on the floor. I read that impurity transfers through wet things; then that means that now the entire floor of my house became impure. I also read that impurities on the floor must be cleaned using water that exceeds the amount of it, so that would mean that I have to spread lots and lots of water through the entire house, right? This makes me very upset. Am I wrong regarding this, or are the Islamic rules really just like this? I am considering taking another religion since Islam has already prohibited many things like music, conventional banks, Hollywood movies, some video games, and so on, let alone that I have to change my underwear whenever there was urine in it. I do not find any wisdom in these rulings; perhaps you want to enlighten me? Thank you very much for your time. May Allaah reward you.
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
There are many matters related to your question.
Firstly, the matter of impurity is very simple; it is much easier than what you imagine. According to the view of many scholars, the floor and what is firmly connected to it becomes pure by becoming dry. This is a strong opinion, and you can act according to it.
Secondly, it is not obligatory to change the underwear if it is stained by urine; it is enough to pour water over the spot that has urine only.
Thirdly, the most important and most serious thing in your question is that it is your wrong understanding of the teachings of religion that has caused you difficulty. The problem lies in you, and not in Islam. Allah blessed us with this true religion, and Allah does not accept any religion other than Islam. Allah says (what means): {And whoever desires other than Islam as religion - never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.} [Quran 3:85]
Allah made Islam an easy religion that is based on the belief in One God, and Allah relieved us from the burdens and shackles which were imposed on the previous nations; praise be to Allah.
Allah did not forbid us from anything except for a wisdom and benefit. Allah does not wish to overburden His slaves; rather, He forbids us from things for the great benefits that lie in the forbiddance. In addition to this, the matters that are lawful exceed those that are unlawful many, many times. Your claim, for instance, that computer games are forbidden, is not true; rather, in principle, these games are permissible unless they include something that is forbidden.
Fourthly, thinking about converting to another religion is the most dangerous thing, because if you do so, you throw yourself into destruction and you will be thrown into Hellfire, we seek refuge in Allah from that.
In regard to some rulings that you find difficult, if you keep trying and you train yourself, you will get used to them. Also, doing them with the hardship that you find is good for you, and the consequences of that will be good, instead of doing what your own self desires, and then you will face the Punishment of Allah and His Wrath; we seek refuge in Allah from that.
You should know, may Allah guide you, that you are the winner by abiding by this great religion, which is absolutely the greatest of all religions. If you are misguided, then you only harm yourself, and you do not harm Allah at all.
You should hold fast to this religion and supplicate Allah as much as possible to make you firm on the truth. You should strive to learn beneficial Islamic knowledge, which is the best way of learning the good traits of Islam and protect yourself against those doubts and illusions.
You should keep company with righteous women who would help you in the obedience of Allah and bring you closer to Him.
Seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil, as it is he who casts those doubts and evil thoughts in your heart. Get rid of those thoughts, as they are from the plots of the devil, who wants evil for you.
We ask Allah to guide you to the Straight Path.
