Ruling on reciting 'wazifa' in a specific manner to fulfill a need Fatwa No: 362620
- Fatwa Date:23-10-2017
Assalaamu alaykum. I want to ask you is there any side effects of 'wazifa'. I did 2 wazifa's for 6 days in order to create love between me and my partner. The first wazifa was of reading Surat Al-Jum‘ah 7 times along with 'darood Ibrahim' 3 times before and after Surat Al-Jum‘ah. The second wazifa was for melting his heart for me, which was starting with darood Ibrahim and then 3 times Surat Quraysh and at the end again darood Ibrahim. While doing these wazifas, I kept his image in my mind as I saw that one should do so while doing both these wazifas on Youtube. Now, however, I am afraid, as I heard from my one friend that wazifa can have sbad and reverse effect and that a person can start seeing jinn's if they do the wazifa in the same place and at the same time, which I did. Please, can you help me with this. I am afraid, as I do not want to get any negative effect. Also, I do not knew the real meaning of wazifa yet. I am confused; are wazifa and black magic the same thing? I am afraid of such negative things, but I did not know, so I did those wazifas as I thought that doing wazifa is just like supplicating. I did not know whether wazifa is related to the jinn or black magic and all kinds of negative things. Can you inform me about wazifa's real meaning? And, also, can you help me out in my problem? Thank you.
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
This practice, to which you referred as 'wazifa', basically included good things, which is reciting the Quran and some Thikr (expressions of remembrance of Allah). However, doing this in a certain way and with a fixed number of repetitions falls into the category of what scholars call Bid'ah Idhaafiyyah (additional or secondary innovation). Ash-Shaatibi wrote about the religious innovation, “...this includes the additional innovations by addition, which means committing oneself to doing an act of worship in a specific manner and in specific times that were not prescribed in the Shariah.” This practice is not legitimate and must be avoided. For more benefit, please refer to fatwa 196517.
What remains is to discuss the purpose which you mentioned; that Allah creates love between you and this man. If your wish is to marry this man, then there is no harm in that, but if you merely wish to have a romantic relationship with him, then it is impermissible for the Muslim woman to have a relationships with a non-Mahram (marriageable) man. This leads to Fitnah (temptation/tribulation) and mischief. People in the pre-Islamic era used to take lovers outside of marriage, and Islam abolished that sinful practice. Allah, the Exalted, says (what means): {...(They should be) chaste, neither [of] those who commit unlawful intercourse randomly nor those who take (secret) lovers...} [Quran 4:25]
Allah knows best.
