Fatwa No: 443209

Question

Dog lick my slipper. I throw it away...lots of rain fall it..after some day a wet bucket fall on that dry slipper..if this bucket impure..pls help..I am suffering from vasvaas

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

First of all, we ask Allah to bless you with a fast recovery from the whispers that you are suffering. We advise you to avoid them and not pay any attention to them; this is the beneficial treatment for them.

Moreover, it is permissible for you to imitate the scholars who are of the view that the dog, its saliva, and its sweat are pure, such as the Maaliki School of jurisprudence (accordingly, the bucket that fell on the slippers that a dog licked does not become impure).

The ordinary or layman Muslim is permitted to imitate whomever scholar he wishes from among the different Schools of jurisprudence, so you do not have to imitate a specific School of jurisprudence.

Tuhfatul-Muhtaaj authored by Ibn Hajar al-Haytami reads:

The conclusion of what is relied upon about this matter is that it is permissible to imitate any of the four Imams (i.e. the four Schools), as well as other scholars apart from them whose views are known on that issue and were written down until their conditions and all their particulars are known.” [End of quote]

Allah knows best.
