All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
If the work is lawful and you need it, you are not blamed for it. It seems that your father did not prevent you from work itself, but rather from using this means when going to it, perhaps out of fear for you that you might be afflicted with any harm on your way. So, search for another means of transportation to make your father satisfied with you. But, if you find no other means, so be keen on convincing your father of it to satisfy him. However, some scholars, such as Ibn As-Salaah in his Fatawa, are of the opinion that it is allowed for the person to disobey his parent in certain matters, such as when seeking knowledge, the work from which the person earns his living and what meets his expenditure and pays off his debts, and thus there is no need for their permission. However, we advise you not to disobey your father unless you are forced to do so.
Allah knows the best.
