Wants to marry a recent Japanese convert to help her condition Fatwa No: 89127
- Fatwa Date:30-12-2004
Can I marry a Japanese girl has got into Islam three months ago. In order to learn hear Islam and take here a way from the unbelieving condition surrounding her. I mean, then my intention is not to build a family and have children and so on, but this marriage is will continue only for few years are maybe continue forever if she became a good Muslim. But if she will not become a good Muslim I will leave her. Also the condition her is very difficult for her as it is very difficult for her to find a Muslim man to marry her. Tell me please the Islamic opinion regarding to that situation.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Marrying with the intention of divorce is permissible according to the view of the majority of scholars on the condition that this intention is not mentioned in the contract. If this woman has become a Muslim, then we advise you to marry her and teach her the matters relating to her religion and help her to perform acts of good deeds so that Allaah will multiply your reward. If she becomes a good Muslim with a good religion and moral character, we advise you to keep her as a wife and have children with her.
Allaah knows best.
