Regarding a discharge from private parts and prayer Fatwa No: 89318
- Fatwa Date:10-2-2005
I've been having a problem for several years now regarding discharge from the private parts. I did some research and came to the conclusion that this discharge is not Najas yet some kind of sickness. I've read that before performing the each Salat, cleaning of the private area and Wudu is required. My question is does the Wudu have to be right before the Salat or can I for example, have prayed Maghrib and right afterwards make Wudu again, lets say leave the house, and finally for 'Ishaa perform the Salat with the Wudu I made after Maghrib? Mind u there was discharge within the time interval between Maghrib and Ishaa. Also when making Wudu can I perform it with my socks still on or I'm required to make fresh Wudu for each Salah?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
If the discharge is continuous and does not stop for a period of time for you to remain pure and pray, then you are obliged to perform ablution for every prayer after its time commences and then pray that obligatory prayer along with the supererogatory prayers that are offered before or after the obligatory one with the same ablution, and the discharge during this period does not affect you. Therefore, you should perform ablution for 'Ishaa' prayer after its time commences and not after Maghrib prayer. However, if the discharge stops for a period that is sufficient for you to perform the prayer, then you have to wait for it to stop then you make ablution and pray, provided that this waiting does not lead to missing the time of the prayer. As regards the conditions of wiping over the socks when making ablution, see Fatwa: 82001.
Allaah knows best.
