Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

We ask Allaah to protect you from evil, and grant you righteousness and steadfastness. May Allaah reward you with the best reward for your keenness to give up what is forbidden and for your desire to not anger your parents.

Singing accompanied with musical instruments is forbidden as proved in the clear Islamic texts, as we mentioned in Fataawa 81545 and 81239.

A child before the age of puberty, though he is not held accountable for his deeds, yet his parents should instruct him to avoid what is forbidden and should help him in this matter in order to grow up according to the teachings of Islam. This is our advice to all parents.

Moreover, they should be happy that Allaah granted them a child who is eager to do good and abstain from bad.  This is something that many parents wish for.

However, we do not think that staying away from musical training at school would cause problems for you. If it is supposed that you will be harmed if you abstain from that, then a Muslim should be patient during the afflictions he faces when trying to please Allaah, because the outcome of patience is always good.

Finally, we inform you that your father should be advised that living in a non Muslim country results in such problems. Therefore, if one can migrate to a Muslim country to safeguard the religion of his family and children, then he should do so.

Allaah Knows best.
