How to earn back the trust of husband and his family Fatwa No: 301420
- Fatwa Date:25-7-2015
Assalamualikum WarehmatullahI am from India and currently living in Saudi Arabia with my husband. I got married in Jan 2014 and i was with my husband for 35 days then he left me at my in-laws home (where No non-mehram are there as my husband is the only son) for 3 months. During this time i was in contact with my male friend, I used to talk to him on phone for no reasons. My husband found that i'm in contact with that person and he was very angry and upset. It caused him to came back from Saudi on an emergency leave and he escalate this issue to his parents and my parents. After a week time the situation got normal and my husband returned back to Saudi. But the behavior of my in-laws with me was completely changed. My husband and In-laws was not allowing me to use my mobile phone anymore. If my parents wants to speak with me they had to call my in-laws then they will transfer the call to me. After sometime allowed me to use my phone but for limited period of time (morning 09 to evening 09). Within a month my husband called me to Saudi and I start living with him since May 2014 until today. Alhamdulillah i am having a baby boy who is 7 months old. Given this scenario, Since i was guilty from that onwards my husband is taking decisions basing on that and i dont know who to change his mind. Also, He wants me to go back to India and live there for 6 months due to financial breakdown and also my in-laws did not see my son. What should i do to earn the trust of my husband and my in-lawsPlease answer my questions in the light of Quran and Sunnah.
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
First of all, you are obliged to fulfill the requirements of repentance which have already been mentioned in Fatwa 86527.
One of the best ways to earn the trust of your husband and his family is to remain firm in obedience to Allaah. People think good of a believer by believing that his faith deters him from falling into sin. Reflect on the characteristics of the believers at the beginning verses of Soorah Al-Mu’minoon [Quran 23]
Also, you should be keen on wearing Hijab, as by doing so you would protect yourself from dissolute people and protect your chastity.
Allaah says (what means): {O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allaah Forgiving and Merciful.} [Quran 33:59]
Moreover, you should avoid places of temptation and suspicion, so people don't get suspicious of you. Allaah says (what means): {And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood, and when they pass near ill speech, they pass by with dignity.} [Quran 25:72]
Finally, you should not forget to supplicate Allaah to make affection and love persevere between you and your husband, and you should show kind treatment to your husband’s family.
Allaah Knows best.
