- Fatwa Date:8-1-2020
The ruling and opinions that the four shieks made and agreed. Regarding the cleaning of the place that was urinated upon. The type that was talked about was getting the urine from the place and putting it in a bucket and adding the water later what is the ruling
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Removing the urine from this place (spot) does not render it ritually pure, because its traces are still there. According to the majority of scholars, it is required to pour water over the spot contaminated with urine until water submerges the place of the impurity. The Hanbali scholars held that this must be done seven times with spots other than the ground. However, if the urine contaminated a spot on the ground, it is enough to pour water over it once such that water submerges the impurity.
The Hanafi scholars, on the other hand, held that the ground and fixed objects connected to it, such as trees and buildings, become ritually pure by dryness caused by the sun, wind, and the like.
In summary, if the spot contaminated by urine was not a (patch of) ground, it must be washed (with water) according to the four Imams, and if it is a (patch of) ground, it is sufficient to let it dry to become ritually pure according to the Hanafi scholars, and it is obligatory to wash it with water according to the majority of scholars.
As for the bucket in which the urine was collected, it does not become ritually pure except by pouring out the urine, if it was still in the bucket, and then washing off the traces of urine by pouring an amount of water over it that exceeds it. The Hanbali scholars held that this should be done seven times.
