Impurity Is Not Transferred When It Is Dry

Question

I have a problem of wetting my bed sometimes. If i urinate during sleep i wake up wash my legs then next night if i wear the same clothes to bed do i have to wash myself again next morning even if i didn't wet my bed again?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

If the impurity on the bed or on the clothes has dried out and then you slept in those clothes or on that bed, then it is not judged that the impurity is transferred to your body, and you do not have to wash it [your body], because dry impurity is not transferred to whatever it came in contact with if it is dry.

Al-Ashbaah Wan-Nadhaa'ir by As-Suyooti reads: “Also, when the impurity came into contact with something dry while they [the impurity and the item] are both dry, then it does not render it impure.” [End of quote]

Nonetheless, it is better for you not to sleep in impure clothes even if the impurity is dry.

Allah Knows best.
