Assalamu alaikom, I have been having a recurring horrible dreams. The same dream about once or twice ever 2 weeks. It is of a man dressed in all black and I can never see his face. The man always has violent sex with me. In my dream I am scared and I fear him. I beg him not to but he normally hold me down and has sex with me. He never speaks or anything. Usually after having the dream of him having sex/raping me, my husband will pray for me and we will say certain prayers before sleeping the next night, but then the man still comes in my dreams but finds my husband is next to me (in my dreams) so when the man enters my bedroom and knows my husband is next to me he doesn't have sex with me, he just rubs my leg or touches my hand. I still can't see his face but I can tell he is jealous of my husband and that he is mad because he can't get to me. This dream has been going on for several months now. Normally 4 a month (every two weeks). What or who is this man? Why is he bothering me? Why am I having these dreams? How do I get rid of him from my dreams? I feel so disgusted after waking up from these dreams. I am a pious woman and I don't like this at all. It makes me feel dirty or as if I have done something wrong by having these dreams. I really wish he would just go away, because sometimes I am afraid to go to sleep at night for fear of dreaming about him. Please help. Thank you
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
It is most predominantly a dream from the devil in order to spoil your life, and there is no doubt that this is a trial from Allaah.
Therefore, we advise you not to fight the feeling of fear in order to avoid unpleasant consequences. You should know that a person is not sinful for what he sees in his dreams as he/she has no control over it; for more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 17884.
We advise you to earnestly supplicate Allaah in order to repel this nightmare from you. You should sleep while being in a state of ablution and say the legislated supplication of going to bed, perform Ruqyah, recite the morning and evening mention of Allaah, mention Allaah when entering the toilet, and other supplications by which a person protects himself/herself from evil and from the devil.
For more benefit, please refer to Fataawa 90187 and 83663.
Allaah Knows best.
