Fatwa CenterAn actor divorcing his wife in drama
Question
in darama mostly marry and then divorce, if a real husband & Wife work in the Drama & Divorce in the Drama what is the Effect on their Maritial Status.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
If the husband initiates divorce to his wife by the clear words of divorce in a drama, then his divorce takes place, and it does not matter if he said this just as a jest. The evidence about this is that it is confirmed that the Prophet said: "There are three things which if done seriously are valid and if done in jest are also valid: marriage, divorce and taking back a wife (to marital bond) after divorce." [Abu Daawood and At-Tirmithi]
