Question

Salamualaikum
Dear scholar kindly throw some light on 'Salatul Ghausia' which the Barelwis offer and how one can prove it to be wrong?
Thank you

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

This prayer has neither origin nor evidence in Sharee`ah and it is impermissible to worship Allaah The Almighty by performing such prayers.

In principle, acts of worship are only determined by revelation (the Quran and Sunnah). The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was proven to have said: If anyone introduces in this matter of ours (religion) something which does not belong to it, it will be rejected." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

We know that followers of this sect believe that this prayer has a special virtue. They allege that –by virtue of this prayer- whoever recites it ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening Allaah The Almighty fetches him nearer and nearer and loves him a lot, the Mercy of Allaah will start pouring upon him endlessly, he becomes a saint himself and he will be safe from all the catastrophes of the world.

If this was true, then it is an extremely deviant sect because its followers attribute things to Allaah The Almighty without knowledge. Allaah The Almighty Said (what means): {Say, "My Lord Has only Forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allaah that for which He Has not Sent down authority, and that you say about Allaah that which you do not know."}[Quran 7:33]

However, the Barelwi sect has several deviant beliefs that we mentioned in Fataawa 84792 and 87790. Hence, Muslims should advise those people with wisdom and good instruction and out of pity for them after demanding them to provide the proofs of their alleged beliefs.

Allaah Knows best.
