Question
DEAR SIR,ONE OF MY RELATIVE WORKING IN A CONTRACTING COMPANY IN GULF,HE IS INCHARGE FOR QUALITY CONTROLL OF THE MATERIALS WHICH PURCHASED BY THE COMPANY.ONE OF THE MANUFACTURER WHICH MY RELATIVE INTRODUCED TO THE COMPANY FOR SUPPLY OF MATERIALS AS HE KNOWS THE QUALITY OF MATERIAL IS GOOD.NOW THE MANUFACTURER SEND THE QUOTATION TO THE COMPANY THAT HE WILL SELL THAT FOR 20 RIALS / KILO AND THE COMPANY AGREED FOR THAT.NOW THE MANUFACTURER WANT TO GIVE 0.50 RIYALS / KILO TO MY RELATIVE, AND MY RELATIVE TOLD HIM I DON'T NEED ANY MONEY BUT GIVE THIS TO MY COMPANY AS DISCOUNT.BUT THE MANUFACTURER SAYS THAT HE IS SELLING THIS MATERIAL TO SOMANY COMPANIES IN GULF WITH SAME PRICE AND HE CAN'T GIVE OFFICIALLY DISCONT TO ONE COMPANY, AND THIS IS HIS NORMAL PROCEDURE WITH ALL COMPANIES. IF MY RELATIVE DON'T WANT TO TAKE THIS MONEY JUST THE MANUFACTURER WILL KEEP QUITE AND DON'T GIVE TO ANYBODY.UNWANTEDLY MY RELATIVE TAKEN THIS MONEY [A BIG AMOUNT] AND PUT IT IN THE BANK WITH SEPERATE ACCOUNT.NOW THE QUESTION IS WHAT HE SHALL DO WITH THIS MONEY, [1] IS IT POSSIBLE MY RELATIVE CAN USE AS LOAN WITH NEEYA OF REPAYMENT AS HE IS IN NEED OF MONEY [2] OR IS THIS MONEY IS HALAL IN ANY CASE AS MY RELATIVE IS TAKING CARE OF MANUFACTURER'S MATERIAL QUALITY TO GET IT PASS THE QUALITY TESTS.PLEASE ADVISE MY RELATIVE WHAT TO DO WITH THIS SITUATION.THANK YOU AND JAZAKALLAH KHAIR.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
This man has no right to the money that was given to him by the supplier company as this is a gift to an employee (related to his work) and this gift is not permissible except with the permission of the employer [owner of the company where he works] as we clarified in Fataawa 90851 and 89483.
Therefore, if the employer did not give permission to this man to take this money, then it is an obligation to give it back to its owner.
