ASSALAMUALAIKUM WA RAHMATULLAHI WA BARKATAHU RESPECTED SIR, 1.I READ QURAN EVERY DAY IN MY OFFICE WHILE READING I CAME ACROSS THE VERSES OF SAJDA(PROSTRATE).I DONT HAVE ANY PLACE TO PROSTRATE I DECIDE TO PROSTRATE AFTER THE PRAYER BUT I FORGET THAT NOW I DONT KNOW HOW MANY PROSTRATE I HAVE TO DO THIS HAPPEN FROM THREE MONTHS I HAVE COMPLETED TWO QURANS. .
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
We have previously clarified in Fatwa 135436 and 95307 that the Sujood At-Tilaawah (prostration of Quran recitation) is a recommended Sunnah and not an obligation. Therefore, if you do not perform the Sujood, you are not sinful and you are not obliged to make up for it.
However, if you follow the opinion of the scholars who are of the view that the Sujood At-Tilaawah is an obligation (the jurists of the Hanafi School), they believe that Sujood At-Tilaawah, for whoever recites a verse that requires Sujood outside of prayer, does not have to be performed immediately, and that it is not an obligation according to them to perform it straight after the recitation of the verse; so you can prostrate now.
Al-Fataawa Al-Hindiyyah reads: “Its [the prostration for the recitation of the Quran] performance does not have to be immediate. If someone performs it at any time, he would be performing it and not making up for it, unless it is read during the prayer. If it is read during the prayer, and he delays it until having recited for a long time, then, in this case, it becomes making up for it, and the person is sinful.” [End of quote - Abridged]
Some scholars who say that its time is immediately after the recitation of the Sujood verse also say that it is permissible to make up for it if there is a long period of interruption and its time has passed; this view is contrary to the apparent view of the Shaafi'i School; An-Nawawi said in Al-Majmoo’: “One should prostrate after recitation of the Sujood verse, or after listening to it, and if he delays it and the interval was short, then he should prostrate, but if he delays it for a long time, then its time is over. As regards whether or not he should make up for it, then there are two opinions reported by the author of At-Taqreeb (i.e. Al-Qaadhi Abu Shujaa'), and they followed his two opinions, the strongest of them is that it is not to be made up and this is the authoritative opinion of Shaykh Abu Haamid, Al-Bandaneeji and As-Saydalaani and others.” [End of quote]
Therefore, if you want to make up for the Sujood, or perform it (not as making up for it) according to the view of those who are of this opinion, then there are 15 places for Sujood in the Quran. ‘Amr ibn Al-‘Aas said that the Prophet taught him 15 prostrations for the recitation of the Quran, among which are 3 in Al-Mufassal and two in Surah Al-Hajj [Quran 22]. [Abu Daawood, Al-Haakim, Ibn Maajah, Ad-Daaraqutni - Al-Munthiri graded it Hasan (good)]
