Fatwa CenterReward of deceased when person performing Hajj on his behalf dies during Hajj
Question
My question is the following: I heard that if a person dies while performing Hajj, he will be resurrected as performing the Hajj on the Day of Judgment and go to Paradise without questioning. What if that person was performing Hajj for a deceased one and dies, will the deceased also be resurrected as performing Hajj and go to Paradise?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Resurrection and the condition in which people will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment are among the matters of the Unseen; it cannot be decided except based on a religious text with explicit indication (from the Quran or Sunnah). When a person passes away after having assumed the state of ihraam to perform Hajj, then he shall be resurrected in the condition in which he dies, as evidenced by the hadeeth about one of the Companions who died at ʻArafaat. The Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, said, “Wash him with water and lote tree leaves, and shroud him in two garments, leaving his head and face bare for he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection reciting the talbiyah.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Moreover, Jaabir 
reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, said, “Everyone will be resurrected in the condition in which he dies.” [Muslim and others]
Ad-Deebaaj ʻala Muslim reads, “This hadeeth means that the person will be brought back to life on the Day of Resurrection in the very condition and state that he has died.”
It is hoped that he will enter Paradise based on the hadeeth that reads, “Whenever a person makes talbiyah or takbeer, he is given the glad tidings of entering Paradise.” [At-Tabaraani]
The Prophet, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, also said, “The Hajj Mabroor (i.e. accepted by Allaah) brings no reward less than Paradise...” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Hence, it is hoped that the person who dies while performing Hajj on behalf of a dead person shall be granted the promised rewards reported in this regard; verily, Allaah, The Exalted, is All-Generous and All-Merciful.
However, we could not find any evidence indicating that the person on whose behalf the Hajj is performed will be resurrected while performing the rituals of Hajj and enter Paradise.
