Leukocoria (eye disease) does not affect prayer

Question

Can someone who suffers from Leukocoria pray?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Observing the prayer is obligatory on each and every Muslim who is competent for religious assignment under all circumstances, except for the woman who is experiencing menses or postpartum bleeding. A Muslim is not exempted from the obligation of prayer under any circumstances as long as he has a sound mind. This ruling applies regardless of whether he suffers from Leukocoria or any other disease or not. He is obliged to observe each obligatory prayer at its due time, but he should perform the prayer to the best of his ability according to his condition. If one is able to stand up in prayer, then he must offer the prayer in a standing position. If he is unable to stand, then he prays while sitting. If he is unable to sit, then he prays while lying on his side. If he is unable to perform the Rukoo’ (bowing) and Sujood (prostration), then he can simply nod with his head instead. Allaah, The Exalted, says (what means): {Allaah does not charge a soul except (with that within) its capacity.} [Quran 2:286] The point is that he is obliged to perform the prayer under all circumstances, and he is not exempted from this obligation because of this disease.

Allaah knows best.
