Seeing Hoor in dream

Question

Assalaamu alaykum. Is it possible to see Hoor in a dream?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Some scholars cited statements of the Salaf (righteous predecessors) in this regard which can be understood to mean that there is nothing in Islam which prevents seeing the Hoor in a dream.

Al-Qurtubi said in his book At-Tathkirah:

Muhammad ibn An-Nu'maan Al-Muqri said, ‘I was sitting with Al-Jalla Al-Muqri in Makkah in the Sacred Mosque, and an old man who was tall and skinny passed by us, and he was wearing shabby clothes, so Al-Jalla stood with him for a while, and then he came back to us and asked, 'Do you know who this Shaykh is?' We said, 'No.' He said, 'He bought a Hoor from Allah by having recited the entire Quran four thousand times [i.e. he asked Allah to bless him with a Hoor in return for reciting the Quran 4,000 times]. When he completed the recitation (4,000 times), he saw her (the Hoor) in a dream in her jewels and adornment, and he asked her, 'Who are you?' She said, 'I am the Hoor whom you bought from Allah with four thousand recitations of the entire Quran.' Then she asked him, 'What is my gift (my dowry) from you?' He said, 'Reciting the entire Quran one thousand times.''’ Al-Jalla said, ‘He is still working on them...’”

Mudhar Al-Qaari said, “One night, I slept and failed to recite the Hizb (portion of the Quran that I used to recite every day/night); so I saw a girl in a dream, her face was like a full moon; she had a parchment with her and said, ‘Can you read, O Shaykh?’ I replied, ‘Yes.’ So she said, ‘Read this letter.’ So I opened it, and there was something written on it. I swear by Allah, whenever I remember that, sleep escapes me...”

Allah knows best.
