salam. if there is a movie with good message but contains two/three haram scenes and some background music, should we avoid watching it altogether? or can we see it given its predominant good part by bearing the small harm of music considering that we have a dearth of 100% Islamic movies? can we act as per this fatwa in all such cases:https://www.islamweb.net/en/fatwa/88388
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
The view that we adopt here in Islamweb is that there is no harm in watching movies with good objectives and that convey a good message, if they are predominantly lawful, even if they include some minor prohibitions.
However, one should strive to avoid those prohibitions if it is possible. If there is music, for example, one should mute the volume, and one lowers his gaze from looking at the forbidden images (or scenes).
The reason behind permitting it is because the existence of such prohibitions in beneficial and useful materials is something which has become widespread, to the point that it is difficult to prohibit making use of all that involves those prohibitions.
When a problem becomes widespread, then this necessitates being lenient and tolerating the issue as determined by the jurists.
Allah knows best.
