Question

? How big is the sin of deliberately bringing bad thoughts to mind?(the most common sexual thoughts) what about deliberately bringing bad thoughts that are insulting to Allah? Please clarify sins that reach the level of kufr and those that are only major or minor sins in your answer. Please give a broad and long answer because I am suffering extremely much and every miligram of information is extremely helpful. Is the description in details of these things(like I did in my question) a sin that reaches the level of kufr, or major sin, or minor sin? how can we distinguish passing thoughts and feelings for whom we are not taken into account and thoughts and feelings that are deeds of the heart for whom we are taken into account? The main point is if If you have a blastphemous feeling(like sexual excitement, pleasure, love, hatred) or image(insulting to Allah) or sound(insulting to Allah) that stays in your mind for a long time( more than 20 minutes) or words and sentences ( for more than twenty minutes) do you have sin that reaches the level of kufr? Do you have sin that reaches the level of kufr for not moving your mind away from them within seconds or minutes ? Or you have only major sin like backbiting, theft, usury or minor sin? please send your answer to my email aldiarienald@gmail.com

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

All that you suffer from and the thoughts that you mentioned are nothing but whispers.

These whispers do not harm you and do not affect the validity of your faith as long as you hate them and repel them, whether or not they lasted for long.

As long as you do not willingly give in to them and reject and repel them, then they will not harm you at all.

However, you have to strive against them and endeavor to get rid of them until Allah rids you from them with His Favor and Mercy.

We can authoritatively assert that you did not deliberately indulge in these thoughts; rather, they are mere whispers, and therefore, you are not sinful for them in principle as they occur without your choice.

So you must repel them and do your best to get rid of them and do not pay any attention to them.

We recommend that you consult a trustworthy psychiatrist.

Allah knows best.
