Assalam AleikoumI am a woman of 20 years and I wear the hijab in France but I want to work, the problem is that they does not accept the Islamic hijab but only the turban that covers only the hair, not the neck or the chest. What should I do? JazaKhAllah
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
First of all, we thank you for being keen on adhering to the Hijab, may Allah reward you. We ask Him to facilitate your affairs and ease your distress. We advise you to supplicate Allah as much as possible as He possesses the doors of sustenance; Allah Says (what means): {And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.} [Quran 15:21]
Hijab is obligatory on the Muslim woman, and it is not permissible for her to be abandon it for work or for anything else. So, if you are in need to work, then look for a permissible job to earn lawful money, even if this work is from home. If you do not find a way thereto, and there is no one to spend on you, such as your father or husband, for example, and you do not have money to spend on your own self, then it becomes permissible for you to unveil your neck, for example, as the necessity requires, but you have to cover back up when the reason (for unveiling) no longer exists; meaning when you finish work, as the rule according to the jurists is that necessity is assessed according to its proper value.
If you are not married, then you should be keen on getting married, perhaps Allah would bless you with a husband who would suffice you from the need to work.
In Islam, it is permissible for you to look for a pious husband and seek the help of righteous people in this regard.
