Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is obligatory on the man in reference to perform Ghusl (ritual bath) due to the emission of semen. As for his wife, it is not obligatory on her to perform Ghusl, even if her body came in contact with some of the husband’s semen, unless she too discharged semen (vaginal sexual fluid), in which case it is obligatory on her to perform Ghusl as well. Imaam Ibn Qudaamah may Allaah have mercy upon him said in Al-Mughni: “The ejaculation of semen with lust necessitates Ghusl, and this applies to both the man and the woman, while asleep or awake. This is the opinion of the majority of the jurists.” [End of quote]

It is permissible to ejaculate in the morning or at any other time as long as it is done for a lawful reason, such as sexual enjoyment of one’s wife, for example; otherwise, it is prohibited at any given time. The Kuwaiti Fiqh Encyclopedia reads: “Masturbation is forbidden because Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {And those who guard their private parts (against illegal sexual acts)…} [Quran 23: 5]

Allah Knows best.
