I have a damaged copy of the Qur'an, only it's covers are damaged and not the text of the surahs. On it's covers "Holy Quran" in Arabic is written and there are some white marks due to damage which might look like harakat fatha above arabic letters. Is it obligatory for me to dispose of this Qur'an?
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
It is not necessary for you to dispose of this copy of the Quran as long as the text of the Quran remains intact and can still be used for recitation and other beneficial purposes. You may replace its cover with another one if you wish. However, if the pages of the Quran you possess are no longer readable, there is no harm in burying or burning them to protect them from desecration. It is mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari that after compiling the Quran, ‘Uthman sent copies (of the compiled Quran) to various regions and ordered that all other versions of the Quran be burned.
Allah knows best.
