Can white Christian become Muslim?

Question

I am interested in becoming Muslim. I have researched and learned, and I truly think Islam is right for me. But I was raised Christian, and I am white (Irish actually). I have never seen any person that looks like me in Islam. Is this allowed? What should I do now?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

As long as Allaah has opened your heart for Islam why are you hesitating? Hurry up to embrace Islam. All you have to do is utter the two testimonies of faith saying: ''Ash-hadu Allaa Ilaaha Illallaah Wa Ash-hadu Anna Muhammadan Rasoolullaah" (I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His Apostle). Contact the nearest Islamic center to you and they will help you. They will teach you what you need to know about your religion after becoming a Muslim. Islam does not differentiate between people except on the basis of the fear of Allaah. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: No priority for an Arab on a non Arab, and no priority for a white on a black except on the basis of piety". Islam is built on creed, law, dealings, manners, relation between The Lord and His servants, and between a person and others. Almighty Allaah revealed a complete system of life. Allaah says (Interpretation of the meaning): {Verily Islam is the religion of Allaah}. May Allaah give success to you, open your heart - and ours - for Islam and enlighten your way to good and truth.

Allaah knows best.
