My friend has a problem: he says that he gets what he wants; no sooner does he think of something he gets it. He wonders if he will be denied rewards in the hereafter, since he gets everything here. Will he be rewarded for his righteous deeds on the day of resurrection or are the rewards of his deeds being given only here? Something I would like to tell you about him: he is a very kind person. Everyone likes him. He attends Islamic classes. He loves to help others (financially or by arranging jobs for them, etc.) He never boasts about what he does. He tries his best to follow the SUNNA. He performs SALAH. He tries to avoid things forbidden in Islam. Please reply soon!
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Allaah has described the people of Misery and disbelief as those who are absorbed in seeking pleasure in this life and who have forgotten the Hereafter. Allaah has also described believers as those who ask Him for their share of this life and their share in the Hereafter. He dispraised the people of the first group and praised the ones of the second group. Allaah Says (what means): {But of Mankind, there are some who say: “Our Lord! Give us (your bounties) in this world and for such, there will be no portion in the Hereafter. And of them there are some who say: “Our Lord! Give us in this world which is good, and save us from the torment of the fire. For them, there will be allotted a share for what they have earned. And Allaah is Swift and Reckoning }. [Quran 2:201-202] Allaah mentioned this stand just after Hajj season. It is known that Hajj is the greatest time and the closest place to having your supplication answered positively. A Muslim supplicates Allaah with a strong faith and starts by emphasizing his demands concerning this world before moving on to the Hereafter demands, as deeds in this world are the seed of the Hereafter. So, if a believer gets what he likes in this world and the Hereafter that’s a great grace from Allaah. And Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, taught us this. Al Bukhari narrated that Anas Ibn Malek said: “The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, used to say: “O Allaah! Our Lord. Give us in this world that which is good, and in the Hereafter that which is good and save us from the torment of the fire ”. Imam Ahmad narrated that Abdul Aziz Ibn Suhaib said: “Qatada asked Anas: Which supplication was most commonly said by the Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and he said: “Allaah! Our Lord … “the same as above ”. And Anas himself used to say this whenever he wanted to supplicate Allaah. Allaah also says concerning the people who fought in Badr: {And they returned with grace and bounty from Allaah: no harm ever touched them: for they followed the good pleasure of Allaah. And Allaah is the Lord of bounties unbounded }. [Quran 3:174] So being well-to- do in this life does not mean any decrease in the rewards of the Hereafter if the believer gives to each life what he is ordered to do by Allaah the Great. Despite this, our righteous predecessors used to fear what you feared because of the great concern about being good Muslims. May Allaah increase in number your people like you.
Allaah knows best.
