Fatwa CenterNights when sex is prohibited
Question
Is it prohibited to have sex during dark nights, i.e. First night of moon, 29th night of moon, 30th night of moon and also 15th night of moon? Is also prohibited to have sex during the night of Wednesday and Sunday. I have read the prohibition of having sex in marriage during mentioned nights due to the fact that Shayateen and other such creatures have sex among themselves during these nights.
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Your wives are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth (have sexual relations with your wives in any manner as long as it is in the vagina and not in the anus), when or how you will, …} [2: 223].
The verse prove that a husband can have intercourse with his wife at anytime with the exception of the following situations:
1) During the menses or confinement period. In this period having sex in vagina is forbidden but one may enjoy with his wife other than sex. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Do everything except intercourse" . [Reported by Imam Muslim ]
2) During fasting or while performing Hajj or Umrah.
Other than the above situation a husband is free to have sex with his wife at anytime and at any place.
Therefore, the questioner may know that what he mentioned has no basis in Shari'a, so such claims have no weight in Shari'a and should be ignored. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "If somebody tries to introduce into this faith of ours (Islam) something which is not a part of it, is to be rejected and that person is condemned" .
