If I bought a thing with 10 Dirham and I told for my friend that it is 20 Dirham and I took from him 20 Dirham. Is this lawful?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. It is strictly forbidden to say that you have bought a thing for twenty Dirhams while in reality you have bought it for only ten Dirhams. This is indeed the sternly prohibited kind of lying. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A Muslim is completely inviolable to another Muslim in terms of his honour, life, and property . [Narrated by Al-Bukhari , Muslim , At-Tirmidhi 's wording] Yet, if our dear questioner meant to say to his friend: "I give it to you for twenty (selling it to him) irrespective of the real price he paid for it, then no harm for that". Allah knows best.
