At work there is a man who continuously asks me questions about Hijaab. Sometimes he'll ask questions regarding other Islamic issues but he always returns to the Hijaab. The problem is that I'm not sure if he really wants to learn about Islam or if he's trying to dissuade me from wearing it. Al-Hamdu Lillaah, I'm certain of my faith and would never consider removing the Hijaab, however because I'm unsure of his motives should I continue having discussions about Islam with him?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
May Allaah bless you and make you steadfast on His religion. We appreciate your commitment to Islam.
Talking with marriageable men even if it is for the purpose of Da'wah is not advisable. Men should call men and female to female to avoid any bad consequences. As you know intermingling of sexes is not allowed in Islam. For more details on this subject refer to our Fataawa: 87935 and 84281.
We have mentioned previously the criteria for working and living in a non-Muslim country. See the Fataawa: 82399, 88048 and 81464.
Therefore, we advise you not to work where you cannot abide by the rulings of Islam.
Allaah knows best.
