Accepting money as a gift from his employer

Question

I work in France with a Prince from Saudi Arabia. He is in France at the present moment and his secretary called me from Riyadh asking me to give all my information because he will transfer money to the Prince. He said that I part of the money will be for me. I did not do anything to deserve this money, is this money Halaal for me?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

We do not know what you mean by "all my information". However, if you meant by that your bank account information that they need in order to be able to transfer the money, and the money was granted to you by its owner then you may accept it and use it. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "If Allaah provides you with some money without you asking or longing for it, take it and use it or give it in charity. Otherwise, do not hope for it." [Al-Bukhari]

If you strongly believe that they are allotting you this money on the assumption that you did something for them that you did not do, then inform them of the reality.

Allaah Knows best.
