Why did Allaah mention in the Quran the number of days in which He created the heavens and the earth?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
There is no doubt that Allaah created the heavens and the earth in six days for much wisdom as He, the Exalted, is able to create them in one second. Among these wisdoms are the following:
1- This is a way of testing people in their creed in order to find out whether they would describe Him as being Perfect and All-Mighty as He described Himself, or that they would describe Him as being unable as the Jews, may Allaah curse them, said that Allaah created the heavens and the earth in six days and then He rested on the seventh day.
2- To teach people to be patient and careful when doing things.
3- To establish that everything has an appointed time.
This is in brief an answer to the question if this is what the questioner meant, if, however, he meant something else, then he may clarify that to us so that we will respond accordingly.
Allaah Knows best.
