I heard a man saying: “Imagine that there is a frog and there is a fisherman who wants to fish, and the frog plunges down the water to inform the fish about the presence of the fisherman. The Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, is like the frog, but the comparison is not the same, and the devil is like the fisherman.” I told him: “How dare you compare the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, to a frog.” He said: “Since I said that the comparison is not the same, then I am not sinful.” What is your view about this?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
Comparing the Prophet as mentioned in your question is despising him and degrading him, and it is feared that the person who gave this example could become a disbeliever and out of the fold of Islam, and his statement, “the comparison is not the same” is of no value. Had there been any honourable status of the Prophet in the heart of this person, he would not have given such an example, rather he would have looked for another example which shows the greatness and the honourable status of the Prophet . Therefore, this person is obliged to repent from this despicable act instead of defending his falsehood. Treading the true path is better than persisting in falsehood. May Allaah grant people the knowledge of how to behave towards to the Prophet and respect him.
Allaah Knows best.
