Question
I perform night prayers daily and I read from the Mushaf [the Quran Book] and when I bow down, I put the Quran while it is open upside down on a high table. What is the ruling on this?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
You should not put the Quran upside down while it is open on the table, as one should not put it in this displeasing manner. Therefore, we advise you to put a book mark, like a piece of paper, when you finish reciting and put it on the table without turning it upside down while open. When you stand up to recite again from it, it would be easier to open it.
