Questioning the degree of sinfulness for not wearing Hijab

When wearing the hijab is not obligatory
Please can you answer this question? I have been told by some sisters that you should keep your hijab on all the time even in the house as the angels see you, in the bathroom and even sleeping. Being in a community where Hijab is not encouraged
