If I work in a newspaper which has an entertainment section but I work in the political sections is it halal or haram.

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

In principle, it is permissible to work for newspapers as long as they do not oppose the religion of Allaah, whether this is arousing desires, like unethical and immoral newspapers and the like, or which propagate misconceptions, like secular and atheistic newspapers and the like.

As regards the newspapers which include good and evil things, then it is permissible to work for them in permissible fields, whether in the political field or else. However, there are many forbidden matters in the political field. What is important is that the person who works for these newspapers should avoid saying or doing anything which contradicts the Islamic religion and the rules of Allaah.
