Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

What is known as “Love relationship” between boys and girls is something forbidden. Nevertheless, if a woman’s heart is attached to a man without her causing it by looking abundantly at him or talking to him without a need, and the like, then she is not sinful, but this should not lead her to a forbidden matter or prevent her from a religious obligation.

Moreover, it is permissible for a woman to propose herself to a pious man in order to marry him provided she abides by the Islamic etiquette when doing so.

Therefore, you are not sinful for proposing to this man but you were wrong in pretending in the text that it was from your friend. This is a kind of lying and it is lying on your friend as well. Therefore, you should repent from this and ask your friend to forgive you unless you fear that this will lead to any harm.

If Allaah did not predestine you to marry this young man, so you should endeavour not to be attached to him, while seeking the help of Allaah and supplicating Him to bless you with a pious husband.

For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 92148.

Besides, we advise you not to mix with non-Mahram men at work or else, and to observe Hijab. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 82399.

Finally, it should be noted that extravagancy is forbidden and it is a dispraised act which Allaah does not like; Allaah Says (what means): {…and eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess.}[Quran 7:31]

Allaah Knows best.
